Unfortunately this got pretty boring by the halfway mark and I ended up skimming the last third

End of ch 8 - this book is getting more and more depressing and less and less fun to read - does it get less dark? 😩

So far this is such a strange book but I really like the writing. It’s one of those books that feel like watching a moving rather reading because the descriptions are so vivid. I am definitely intrigued to see where this goes, because so far I have not been able to predict any of it 😂

Wouldn't it be handy to be able to sort books in your shelves by the length of the books?
The thought started by my friends and I starting a bookclub and wanting books ~250 pages, and I realised it would be a cool function. Sometimes I also have a specific page count that I would like to read.
Just a thought I had, has anyone else thought the same?
Edit: I realise there doesnt seem to be a page count on books since you put the page count for your edition which makes this idea impossible for now lol

you know in a horror movie where nothing has explicitly gone wrong yet but there is this unshakable dread and tension? That’s how the opening of this book feels
and it’s so visual in such a visceral way, i love it and i’m scared

I’m really interested by the amount of brand names being used in this first chapter. I’m curious how this acknowledgment of monopoly will feed into the themes of the book as a whole.

I’m not familiar with Psyche and Eros, so not sure how this retelling compares. Overall, the writing was witty and funny and I found the story telling engaging. I think the last 20% or so was too condensed and forced to fit into a love story. Psyche deserves to be a hero and lover
