I quite enjoy learning new words. I like words that can be fun to say, and I like words with deep meanings as well.
Sonder - the profound realization that every random stranger is living a life as vivid, complex, and central to them as your own is to you.
Grotesque - describes something that is unnaturally odd, bizarre, or hideously distorted in shape or appearance.
Petrichor - pleasant, earthy, and fresh scent that fills the air when rain falls on dry soil.
Fracas - A noisy quarrel. A brawl.
Fiddle-faddle - Trivial matters.
I have a bunch of other words that I enjoy, but these were the ones I could think of right now. Are there any words that you like? Words that may be difficult to understand or words you just like saying? Words that you wish would be used more?

First of all, I‘m aroace person that really doesn‘t have any desire to be in a relationship and am also currently going to university. This is a book about two aroace people who don‘t want to be in a relationship meeting at uni and becoming friends.
Obviously this one hit very close to home for me. I related heavily to both of our main characters (especially Jo and their relationship to gender bc same) Honestly this is the first I‘ve ever read about any aroace characters and that really unlocked my desire for more. I really didn‘t realise how much I yearned for representation until I got it
Now this is Ann Zhao‘s first and only book and unfortunatly there are moments where you can tell. One example is the inner dialogue of the characters having the type of infodumping thats usually reserved for bad to kind of okay fabtasy books whenever it comes to queerness. And on the one hand I get it, in the introduction she mentioned that she hopes that maybe this‘ll help someone come to terms with their sexuality; but like what aroaceperson thats known their aroace for years thinks allosexuals, those are people who experience romantic attraction
I still had a great time and so many moments where I related so much to the chracters, and even though this book definetly has its faults its also one I can see myself rereading over and over, because honestly for me this has been the literary equivalent of a warm hug
