This is pure crack cocaine. It hits you so hard and fast, gets you 100% addicted and is over quickly lol.
But seriously, even if it is a pretty short book it’s a hell of an introduction. You get attached to the MC Neil Josten sooo fast (as does everyone else on the team actually). And really all you want is for this whole dysfunctional family unit they have or start building to work out for everyone.
This first book is really about getting to know all the characters on the team and figuring out their dynamics with each other. There are hints here and there about the more fucked up stuff that happened to some of them but nothing goes too deep yet. And I think that’s the other part of what keeps you hooked. You want to find out more about the characters and you want them to open up to each other and trust and just learn that they have a place they can go and be okay.
Truly found family at its finest (even if we’re not quite there yet vis a vis trust lol)
Anyway there are definitely technically better written books but it honestly doesn’t matter when the story and characters are so good.
It really is like that fanfic that you just get obsessed with and read until 3 am even though you have school/work in the morning..
I can’t wait to keep reading the series.

What kind of things do you use for bookmarks (if you use physical bookmarks), and what is the strangest?
When I was younger, I was reckless and would dog-ear my books sometimes because my bookmarks kept falling out (don't ask me how - I was a small, confused child with ADHD so even I didn't know. They just grew legs and ran away from me), but as I got older I became a lot more serious about looking after my books. Recently, I received an acrylic dragon bookmark, but it ripped the pages of my book after being in my bag, and a similar thing happened with a magnetic bookmark that I had started using. So I have gone back to good, old-fashioned plain bookmarks (preferably with pretty patterns or something funny on them).
The strangest bookmark I have used probably isn't so strange in and of itself but I hadn't read a book for a while and found the bookmark I was using was a slip of cardboard I'd gotten from an undie company that said 'Power in my Pants'. I was very confused why there was power in the pants of The Fellowship of the Ring.
