I'm tired of reading Orson Scott, Crichton and the like. I need something where 50% of the characters are views into the authors stunted relationship with women

DNF at 12% I usually give books until 20-30% before I DNF, but I really wish that authors/publishers would disclose Christian fiction. I also usually don't look up reviews on books, but decided to check to see if I was jumping the gun on calling this an unlabeled Christian fiction - I wasn't. But the reviews also highlighted that the women in the house that is filled to the brim with books are biased against romance novels (even though there are multiple romance subplots in this book) and I don't love that.

I really loved ex voto narrative. For those who haven't played it I am looking for queer historical romance reccs that are similar in vibes/writing style to a Medieval ballad, that are set in any country in Europe. That feature two characters with their own struggles outside of romance. Bonus points if there are any lesbians.

Can someone recommend some good volumes to start? I like scifi, I like fantasy (of course) but I have only read Kindred by Butler in this list and among the 100 it's hard to narrow down and choose. Any clear standouts in your minds?
