Yes, the main character has a wooden bowl stuck to her head all throughout the book. No, it’s not the weirdest thing that happens in the story.
Being serious though, this book was phenomenal, man. The entire story is so fast paced and continuously moving that I didn’t feel bored for even a single second. The concept, in itself is so unique and unlike anything I’ve ever read before. The writing is simple but still managed to awe me from time to time. The plot is really solid and the way it unfolds is so interesting. I loved loved loved the way the author wrote all the characters and their relationships with each other. Shiori, our main character, changed a lot throughout the story and her development was brilliantly written!! Her resolve genuinely surprised me and I loved how she never judged people based on a single interaction with them. She held firm faith in her mother, even at the end. I loved the relationship between her and Raikama so much as well!! It was so pure and soft and beautiful. The affection that her brothers show towards her is so heartfelt as well.
The last 15-20% of the book are the best parts and I’m really excited to see how this story is going to wrap up in the next book!! Overall, a great fantasy book with fleshed out characters and a magical world!
