hi still very new to this app but i want to know if im the only one who will dnf a book for the smallest thing,, most of the books i listen are through audiobooks and if the narrators voice is slightly too high pitched or the characters are annoying ( constantly saying theyâre small or just whiny) i immediately stop reading them. soooo Iâm quite curious about what makes you all dnd a book hehehe (:

Some ups and downs but overall an entertaining entry into the ongoing Crowns of Nyaxia series.
I definitely liked this book more than The Songbird & the Heart of Stone, which I think might be a relief to some fans of the series; I noticed, anecdotally, many of us felt a bit unsettled in how we felt about Songbird, especially after loving the Nightborn Duet so much. In fact, I do think I would appreciate Songbird more going back to re-read, now having seen the full journey of Mische and Asar.
Throughout the book I did struggle with the chemistry between our couple - there were moments where I felt like a stone spectator and others where I wanted to reach through the page and squeeze their little cheeks (on the face, ok). However, by the end I really fell in love with their love, and can appreciate the character development they each experienced as they grew into themselves and each other.
The immediate plot was a bit meh but I loved the resulting cameos. The overarching plot of the gods at war was really compelling and what helped thrust this duology forward into delivering an entertaining story.
I'm really looking forward to finding out where the Bloodborn Duet will go and how Carissa will end rounding out the wider series. It must be incredibly rewarding but also terrifying working on a series for so long, but I know she can do it đââď¸
