"This was embarrassing. Silver was the lord of his own wood, he was the owner of his own house. And he was a grown man of 25 years, there was no reason his own mother should strike him with as much terror as if he were a naughty school boy caught skrumping."
Me, aged 30, smoking a joint in my own house and then getting paranoid my mother would pop by. Silver, I get you.

i just posted here lol but i've been hyperfixating on this book tracking app (i love to read and i've tried notion, goodreads, fable, etc to track my books and just hated it) but i REALLY love this one! i have so many ideas for the app that could make this even better but i'm not even on the team AHAHAHA but tldr: it would be cool to have a messenger in pagebound! so i can directly discuss books one on one if a conversation started in the forums or even (safely) exchange socials with close friends i make on here! just a thought though! i still love the app as is ♥️

Is there a way to turn a shelf into a list? I don’t know if this is a simple question, at first I thought only top contributors could create lists, but I wanted to know if I can do this or if I have to create a new list and add the books one by one? Also, I don’t know if this questions go here or if I have to write an e-mail? Thanks!! (And sorry!)

I'm curious — considering a lot of us readers are collectors, have lots of cozy hobbies, and take care of curating a space that feels like our own — what's your aesthetic?
I'm a pink and glitter lover, which means my kindle and Kobo are decorated with pink, and I like pink and glittery things in my cozy gaming and reading space. I think mine matches my fave genres, which is romance.
I'm curious how everyone else is curating or decorating their shelves/reading space/ hobby space.
And does it match what you read?

I just finished what I feel should have been a very anxiety-inducing chapter yet I am feeling quite bored with this book. The concept of the magic system made me very interested to start this initially but I honestly have no idea how I am going to get through another 12 hours of the audiobook at this pace. It feels like just a ton of repetitive exposition and I haven't developed any care or attachment to any of the characters which seems a bit concerning considering I'm about a quarter of the way through the book.
My question is, does it get better? If so, am I close to the point where it gets better?

I thought that maybe I was the problem until I read user Thunderstorms review and it was almost verbatim what was going through my head.
I don't care about the MC, or any of the characters for that matter, and the unique magic system that I was intrigued about initially has barely been used at over a quarter of the way through the book.
I won't shy away from a decent level of exposition in the beginning of a book just to get a good understanding of the setting, politics, magic, and necessary lore, but this just felt next level repetitive that it was almost insulting. This is the epitome of "tell, don't show".
It wasn't a bad book and I'm sure if I had more patience and a shorter TBR I would have trudged through it, but I just got two Libby loans that I have been on the waitlist forever for so I'm just gonna go....

How am I JUST NOW finding out abt this reading challenge now??? I’m such a massive Vampire fan! I scrolled through it & thankfully I’ve read a few books, but I’m so excited to see so many unread ones!
Also, did any one else read “My Sister the Vampire” book series when they were younger? It was my very first vampire book, I think I was 10/11, but I recently passed it on to my niece
What was your guys first vampire books?

Tbh… I’m not a fan of the percentage update while reading. I don’t get the hype 🤷🏼♀️ I think it’s more work than necessary. I totally get the reading list updates, or reading goal updates. What does everyone else think?? What am I missing??
I’m curious why it was important enough to be added

This is one of those books where the phrase "thanks, I hate it" is very applicable. I am giving this 5 stars with an enjoyment rating of 2/5 because I did NOT have fun, but that's part of the experience. It was necessary.
I battled with my own definition of "reading for fun" while experiencing this book. It brought on a lot of heavy emotions from all of the blatant sexism and racism. I despised almost every character at some point except for a small handful of them, but I felt that such powerful dislike was a crucial part of the story; everything felt so raw, not like the typical sugarcoated, danced-around way that a lot of authors tackle these heavy themes.
M.L Wang did not take the easy route at any point throughout this story. I am one of those readers who finds it fun to try to guess what the twist will be, or how the sequence of events will unfold, but Wang distracted from the big picture so well that I was actually caught off guard in the concluding chapters of the book.
I loved how this book did not follow any of the common templates that a lot of popular books seem to rely on. I loved how uncomfortable it was. I loved how active it encouraged my brain to be while reading it.
