I'm usually a slow reader. I enjoy it that way, too. But sometimes one needs to read faster. Do you have any tips for that? How do you manage a better reading speed?

Kind of book related, kind of not. Has anyone on this site gotten the game Tiny Book Shop, yet? And if so, how are you liking it? I've unlocked 30 / 47 achievements so far. I love the fact that the book recommendations are real titles, although the last few updates made the recs part a little wonky. I had been waiting for this game to come out for a while, and pretty much told everyone I could to go get it when it released on Steam in August.

I love thick books. Iām taking page counts out of this world. Chunky, rotund, obtuse. Take up an obnoxious amount of space on your shelf. Break your wrists theyāre so unwieldy.
Sometimes content wise they could be shorter.
But what are your hefty book recs?
Iāve read the Stormlight Archive, more recently Alchemized, and I just bought Priory of the Orange Tree.

I feel like I've set unrealistic expectations for myself so I thought I'd check with the masses š (maybe I am bonkers after all)
Do you set reading goals for yourself? If so, what are they? If not, do you have a reason you don't?
Personally, I try to read about 150, ideally 200, pages a day which usually evens out to about 3-4 books a week (1050-1400 pages). I got this number by tracking my pages on a paper I keep in my books and taking the average of a random week.

I would appreciate suggestions on what to read next. I was just reading books that I thought I would like to complete at challenge, or to earn a badge on here. But I need books that I actually enjoy. I'm currently looking for a well written thriller that is fast paced.

Books are subjective and you can never truly know if you'll like a book you've never read...
But I'm sure I'm not the only one who's decided that a book is not for me based on reviews and other people's opinions and then watched a booktuber rant about it. (I've personally done that quite a few times).
Sometimes it's different ideology, ideas, themes or you simply don't care for the writer and what they represent and so on. For me some romantacy books fall into the category of "will never read" simply because I've found they're just not for me.
I'm not asking anyone to tell me what books they will never read (you can, but remember to be civil), but more if/how you categorize them. Do you just let them be and ignore if you find them in recommendations/quests/lists? DNF them on principle, even if you've never even started? Make a separate shelf for them?
I started thinking about categorizing them at some point just for fun and maybe to compare with friends and would love to know if anyone else does something like this.

This is more of a rethorical question, but has been rattling in my mind ever since Jake99's post on plays. For those who are not familiar, visual novels are usually games that are very text heavy and are aided by mostly static images, with little to no animation. The text style can vary from speech bubbles, to text messages, letters etc. And sometimes you get choices on what to do next, especially if it is mystery based VN's like Ace attorney. However, they are still very liniar and rely on you reading a lot of text, actually much like those "choose your own adventure" books
I'll include some examples you can look at, at the end of the post. Now to my question:
I personally would qualify it as reading, but I am not sure on whether I'd track them as a book on here, if i could. What about you? Would you qualify it as reading, or more gaming ... or both? Also what's your favourite VNs? I am always open for suggestions :^)
