I had some stuff to do around the house today so I thought I’m gonna start to listen to Lightlark as it’s sitting on my TBR shelf so long. Well, I’m an hour in and only have the faintest idea of what’s happening. So I’m gonna dnf for now and give it a try later as paper/ebook. (The quality of the audiobook is great tho!)

Started the audio book this morning. Already up to 41%. I love the story/writing. The narrator is so calm and soothing. Might be a 4 to 5 ⭐️ read/listen. Can’t wait to listen to the rest of the book! 😋🎵

I know this isn’t marketed as a romance book but there is however a romance plot to it and it’s throwing me off. I enjoy the enemies to lovers trope but hate a bully romance and this is currently walking a thin line. I don’t know how I’m supposed to root for them. The power imbalance is really off putting to me and I’m struggling to believe I will come round to like him. He was a dick in the current day and somehow worse in this flashback. I don’t even find myself rooting for her at the moment, I’m finding her character a lot less interesting in part two and so far her relationships with the other characters aren’t fleshed out enough for me to care about them. It just sort of feels like everyone’s using her and she’s letting them. I don’t even really get why she is with the resistance. I’m sticking with it because this book is so highly rated and there are slithers of the romantic moments that I’m craving. But the violence and coercion between the two main characters isn’t doing anything for me at this point 🤷🏻‍♀️
