  • What irritates me within the romance genre

I'm quite new in reading romance books so maybe I just have not found the right Subgenre for me or had bad luck with choosing the books but I'm often irritated by the Protagonist being portrait as very delicate. As soft and careful but never really angry and stuff like that.

While there's nothing wrong with that, it's just not always my cup of tea. Do you maybe have some romance recommendations whose protagonists are perhaps a bit more independent etc.?

Oh and also how come that the female protagonist never seems to have a very good friend to talk about things. Even if there is a year long friendship it's being replaced by the new relationship of the main character. Or at least that's how it feels for me.

Fantasy that reads like literary fiction

I'm looking for fantasy books that have structure, plot and/or writing style that resemble adult literary fiction. So, instead of being plot-heavy, the story would be theme-heavy or have an interesting structure. For example, I read This Is How You Lose the Time War and really liked its "literary fiction-ish" structure (although the writing style was more YA in my opinion). I'd love to hear your recommendations!

(And sorry if this is not the right forum, I didn't find a better place to discuss this)

  • Thinking of getting a Kobo

I currently have a kindle that is 10+ years old, and it works just fine. However, I find that I don't use it too often since I have a long physical tbr. I'm thinking of buying a kobo instead, mainly for the libby integration, but I've heard many different experiences based on where people are based. Do you kobo users recommend getting one, and how does Libby work? I really don't want to support amazon...
