How do you negotiate with someone holding themselves hostage? This novella was an interesting, quick read.

A recent forum post made me think of the topic of trigger warnings. Do you think they should exist?? I used to not think they should exist but have since changed my mind. If there is an unexpected action that could really upset people, aka rape or for me my line in the sand is animal cruelty, in a book that would not necessarily have it. Aka a romance novel. I think they should exist. If your reading a horror novel or a dark romance novel or a book about domestic violence that is marketed as such I don’t think they need them because that’s what is advertised Thoughts?

Some people try not to read reviews before they start a book to not get subconciously influenced. I read a few reviews beforehand. Bad reviews don't stop me from starting a book (I enjoyed books in the past that have low overall ratings) but I want to know in advance if the author is shady or put anything in the book I don't like (racist, ableist or transphobic stuff, HP references, surprise pregnancy and so on). Let me know what you think :)

A western with magic and witches, count me in! This book ended up being completely different than I expected and I loved it! It felt a little longer than it needed but with the short chapters the progress didn’t feel as slow. I will absolutely be adding more books by this author to my TBR.

I admire her drive to be the first female highmage, but her flaws, like her arrogance and blind spots, make her such a complex character. Anyone else torn about how they feel about her? I’m rooting for her but also want to shake her sometimes!

I love that no matter what happens, I never see it coming. Like, I'm decently intelligent, I just find that even the small twists have me surprised. It's so fun.

I get my recommendations from bookstagram! And mostly from people i follow on Goodreads. And especially from here on pagebound (I'm actually seeing lot of amazing underrated books and added it to my tbr). So I'm curious to know where & how do you find books to read and add to you tbr?

A book wrapped would be so fun some day! We could see what genres we read that year, the average book length, if you did any rereads, finished series, what badges you won, etc. It would be super fun to see your yearly stats and everyone else’s (Honestly I think everything should have a wrapped: most watched movies this year, 14th rewatch of your favorite show, bottles of wine purchased, all of the things! I want a highlight reel of my life.. sorry about that tangent)

How soon into reading a book do you usually mark it as “currently reading” on any reading tracking sites/apps? I’m honestly just curious if other people wait until they’re further into a book to say they’re reading it. I know I have a few friends who will consider a book being ‘currently read’ when they finish their previous book and know what book they’re reading next. So they do it all in one go.

I'm currently using Goodreads, StoryGraph, Fable and Pagebound so I find it overwhelming to update everywhere after I finish a book! But I'm trying to use only pagebound and StoryGraph for now, one for conversations and the other for stats. So I'm wondering how many do y'all use and any other bookish apps other than trackers that's you find useful?
