If I could give this book 6 stars I would. The way everything melted together from classical Shakespeare to modern stetting was beautiful. The big plays fit perfectly together Caesar, MacBeth, Romeo and Juliet, and King Lear were perfect. Each line that was from these plays was perfectly chosen to capture the mood, motivation, and emotion of the scene.
The plot had me hooked from the start. I will always come back to Act 3: Scene 18; that end left me reeling.
The seven players were all very good, but my favorites being James, Wren, and Filippa. Oh James my tragic hero, you have my heart.

I thought this was going to be like All Quiet on the Western and was disappointed (although that is on me for not reading the synopsis of the book; all I heard was WW2 anti war book) I was not as crushing and sad as I wanted it to be.
I felt no connection to the main character Billy. He was kind of the worst. I did not like him, the concept of the mantra; god grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to the things I can and the wisdom to tell the difference. Didn’t feel earned. We didn’t see Billy try change what happen and the struggle for balance. He just let things happen to him.
I like the unstuck approach to Billy’s powers, how he jumps from his childhood, the war, and after but it is derailed by the talk of aliens. I guess this is anti war book when It follows Billy when he is in the the war, how this is a crusade of children. When it’s not it feels out of place and weird. Such as the book store he went into at the end of the book.
I recommend reading All quiet on the Western Front instead.

Honestly I am at a lost of words on how to articulate my opinion and feelings on this book. It was crazy ride reading about the most degenerate, pretentious, and downright awful people. Henry was probably a sociopath but I am not a psychologist. He is technically a serial killer but many not.
Richard and Francis are probably the best out the bunch and that is saying something thing. The twins are just gross. Bunny was awful but he honestly didn’t deserve to go out like that.
It was very suspenseful and well written. The way Donna Tartt wrote this book was beautiful. Honestly I do think that Charles was right about Henry at the end but who’s to say.
