The writing in this is beautiful, the violence is shocking but purposeful in ushering the story and message along, and the mermaid is an enthralling point of view character to follow. Overall I enjoyed this!

The Wheel of Time turns, and Ages come and pass, leaving memories that become legend. Legend fades to myth, and even myth is long forgotten when the Age that gave it birth comes again. In one Age, called the Third Age by some, an Age yet to come, an Age long past, a wind rose in the Mountains of Mist. The wind was not the beginning. There are neither beginnings nor endings to the turning of the Wheel of Time. But it was a beginning.
I love repeating beginnings to books in a series. I find them more poignant with each book. I also love the sense of oral storytelling that they evoke. Legitimately blinking back tears for this final go. I love that weāre back in the Mountains of Mist for the endš©¶

There is a crazy-wild delight that comes over you when you discover something new, something extraordinary. If you try to share that and people look at you blankly, itās crushing. But if thereās someone else there to say really?! and take fire with enthusiasm alongside youāwell, that will keep you going for a long time.
I love this line because itās such a real feelingāwho hasnāt fallen in love with learning something only to have someone respond to that delight with disinterest? Who hasnāt had someone match their excitement and felt the absolute joy in that sensation? Even more so, though, I love that this line is in no way about a love interest. Thereās something so wonderful about such a lovely interaction happening platonically.

I really enjoyed this one, though I liked the previous book better. The timeline of this book and A Gathering Storm was confusing for the first half of the book or so. After reading that the last three books read best when you think of them as one giant book, I had a little bit of an easier time. I like Randās new self, though it does feel a bit absent of the Rand weāve come to know. Overall, I liked this one and Iām not ready for the series to be over!
