"Compared to her abusive, bullying wrath against my brother, Mrs. Roy's rage against me had an entirely different quality and texture. It was more ambiguous, but no less harsh."
So far this memoir is absolutely heartbreaking.

Hiiii It’s time for Who’s Who Wednesday where every Wednesday we introduce ourselves and make new friends. This is part 5. I think
If you participated any of the times before, you don’t have to introduce yourself again but you can share some different facts about you, an opinion you have, or how your week is going.
If you’re new, introduce yourself!
I’ll go first.

mind your manors
Books where the setting centers around remote manors. Sometimes decrepit, sometimes not, but one thing is for sure, something isn't right

I tried, so hard, for 16 days! But I can't waste anymore time trying to enjoy this book because I'm just avoiding it at this point. I can only handle so much angsty, miscommunication in a historical romance and I reached my limit. I wanted to like this book so bad because it had such an interesting premise but instead it's a historical romance with vampires thrown in for intrigue. I also cannot stand the character of Nena. Her decision making is the only thing moving the plot forward and she's not making great ones. I'm so glad others have enjoyed it and hopefully I will like her other books better.

Idc if it's toxic or healthy friendship, a duo, a trio a 10 person clique. It can be a lion, a witch and a wardrobe for all I care. Hit me.

Oh my gosh, the story might finally be picking up! The writing is beautiful, but dang, this has been just 160 pages of historical pining.

Hi guysss,I'm curious how many books do you read at the same time? One or more? Bc I can't read more than one book at time(unless I don't have to read a book for school too) but I know some people that can read 3 books at the same time!

What book would it be? What theme would it have?
I'm going to read "A Path Of Thorns" by A.G. Slatter. I thought it would be a cool name of a gothic themed cafe with rose accents.

Is there a specific book or type of book you collect?
I try to thrift Eloisa James and Lisa Kleypas Historical Romance from the thrift stores and it's like a game.
I was curious if there were books people tried to collect specifically.

I am very very very very type B personality yet for the most part everything seems to work out. I’ve never read Harry Potter or seen the movies and have zero interest in doing so I am 8 years sober I don’t care about Taylor swift (I’m sorry)

In the best of ways, this feels like "Sinners" in that the vampires are both an existing horror but also an allegory for white people wanting to bleed bipoc communities for their lives, land and culture.

Let's show some local authors love, those who have a one or a few books, published by small or large presses, but generally haven't reached a big stage yet.
We have a lot of awesome ones in Oklahoma, but here are a few: For poetry - Kristen Grace (The Skull Tree) Paul Juhaesz (The Fires of Heraclitus)
For fiction - Rob Roench (In the Morning, the City is the Prairie) James Cooper (Moonlit Massacre) Rilla Askew (Fire in Beulah)
