I didn't really enjoy this book. I felt like it started off strong, but there were a few things that just bothered me - it kind of read like YA, except for some random explicit mentions of someones "appendage" and a sex scene that, for me, felt out of place. I also think that it does make sense for sex to be an important part in this magic system, but it felt like the focus was at a bit much on that and not on other ways to feel pleasure, even though there are a lot of other means. I also didn't really empathize with any of the characters and the ones I was interested in were spent too little time on, especially Saffron's colleagues. What also bothered me (a lot) was that there were just some problems that were resolved way too fast - every time I thought that something happened that would impact the plot in a meaningful way it just got solved through one way or another, which kind of felt like the author just needed something to get out of the situation she's written.
