this app is so cool!!! i unfortunately am not in a place where i can pay $10 a month or i would do the royalty thing to support! i could do $5 a month though if the owners see this if you ever wanted to try out a tier system for different levels of support that could be cool?! not that i have any idea what would go into that or if that would be possible but like lower tiers could get a party hat instead of a crown or something like that?? just a silly idea lol

I’ve always struggled with DNFing books even when I find myself dreading reading them. I just feel so bad because the author put a lot of work into their writing, but sometimes I’m just bored or uninterested and don’t want to keep reading. But at the same time, I don’t want to habitually drop stories a couple pages in because they don’t immediately grab my attention.
How do you guys decide when to DNF a book? How do you balance pushing through and dropping books when you don’t enjoy them?

i want to finish this so bad because i love the lord of the rings and the hobbit but it's just so much information that i find myself zoning out as i listen to the audiobook and having to rewind so often i just like can't get my brain to focus on it. maybe it's because andy serkis's voice is too soothing lol

A collection of the pilot books for popular series, for those of us who love to follow a character's journey for as long as an author will let us! Some of the below series have heavily debated starting points and book read orders--in those cases the pilot was selected based on what seems to be the most popular approach.

dnf. i got like 40% though but i just couldn't handle the abusive, cheating professor who's from israel. I also knew the end would be sad so it didn't seem worth finishing. the writing itself is good but the fact that israel is mentioned so much in the book makes me uncomfortable.
