My biggest takeaway from this book was that compassion and understanding is so necessary. So many of Demon’s thoughts resonated with me, especially when it came to the harsh stereotyping and erasure of a community. Empathy is so important to understand the realities of individuals in disenfranchised communities and the ostracization of them by outside parties. This is the unfortunate experience of some who grow up in poverty and never truly get to sink into being a kid.
