This was so boring, the plot was predictable, the world building weak and overall very uninspiring. I felt like it took itself too seriously even tho this romantasy/shadow daddy/heroine that is stronger than expected is very overdone. If the same book was written with humour and a little silliness it would be a lot better in my opinion. If you want uncomplicated, turn your brain off romantasy you'll like this.

I can't help but think that this book would be a thousand times better if it took itself less seriously and was written with humour, romcom vibe. The story is very predictable and we are told everything, this is obviously a turn your brain off kinda book. The experience would be elevated if it was at least a bit funny.

I don't know if this was for me. I got what the author was trying to do but I couldn't care less for the characters. I liked the vibe and the transportation between worlds, that was fun! I would have dnf if I wasn't a curious btch.

From the provocative and challenging to the emotional and quiet, Japanese literary fiction tends to be nuanced, introspective, and minimalistic. These books contain layered cultural commentary and may lean on psychological, surreal, or fantastical elements to convey their message.
