Hiii! Recently i stumbled across a book advertised as "zutara retelling" (if you know you know) but it was a complete disaster to read. Do you have any books that made you feel "this is the perfect book for me!" after the cover of desc just to read it and find out it was just not it?

My sister-in-law was rewatching the movies for the first time in years, absolutely floored by the actual plot and how much she forgot. Then, she told me she’d NEVER read the books, and obviously I said “They’re a train wreck, you need to read them.” So we’re starting a buddy-read! I’m excited to introduce her to the chaos that is the Twilight book 🫶🏼

It’s been maybe 8 years since I have read a fairy tale retelling they were really popular at my high school. This my 3 ones from this list I have read was many years ago. But the badge is so cute I have to get at least bronze. So I am going to get the short story collection white cat and back dog, since I actually saw it last year and thought it looked interesting. Anyone have any suggestions for the book I should read to make 5?

I’m really loving how Arden very clearly articulates the shift that happened with Christianity taking over Russia. Morozko saying he’s not a god anymore, Anna seeing the domovoy and bannik and assuming they’re demons, etc. Vasya’s family being more northern/remote and keeping a blend of pre-Christian practices while also being Christian is very accurate as well. Also? The pacing is perfect. I’m loving how lyrical and slow and deliberate everything is.

It’s exams season at uni so I don’t read a lot and it’s making me sad, progressing so slowly

As someone who grew up in the Superior National Forest, I am already obsessed with how the woods are portrayed in this story.

This has been sitting on my shelf for so long and now I’m finally starting it—obsessed already. Vibes are fantastic. Can’t wait to read more.

No, I don't mean in a day. I mean, in a year. So basically, I've very recently realized that I don't read a lot of books outside of summer breaks and holidays. Throughout the whole year, I do a plethora of rereads but the only time I fulfill my short reading goal (because I only count books that are first time reads) is during the summer and then I have a whole lot of pressure to quickly find new books and then read them. Hence, the "short" reading goal, cuz otherwise I'll never be able to fulfill my annual aim lol. I suddenly realized this after joining Pagebound cuz I'm very active on here hehe and I discovered that I've completed a good part of my reading goal within only the past three months. The reason this is concerning is because I think it puts me at risk of going into a reading slump and I'm probably not able to digest the books I read properly cuz I'm always looking ahead for the next book. I think the Pagebound plan option is pretty helpful but I'm a mood reader so I never know which book I'll read next. Outside of summer, I somehow never get the time to start new books or it takes me ages to complete one if I do. Any tips??

I really enjoyed this! A lot of people say it was slower, which was very true - the first half of the book was a lot of set up, a lot of political details, with occasional moments of things happening - but I think it worked. Once you got about halfway and the climax started to pick up with all the twists and turns, it moved quickly and was a fantastic end to this duology.
