Hi PageBound!
I enjoy watching YouTube videos about books, but lately I’m having trouble finding channels centred more around reviews and reading wrap-ups rather than internet drama. (The only book YouTuber I’ve been watching recently is Newlynova.)
Do any of you have recommendations?
percylovesbooks created a list
books I already bought but haven’t read
so i have the tendency to buy new books but never read them, so i have this list so i can look at it and feel bad

Love the satiric style, but wasn’t really much attached to the book in general. The ending was sort of disappointing.
Wouldn’t read it again and wouldn’t recommend it, but if you want to adventure into something actually different, I’ll say give it a go.

It’s not a really good book. Characters are very plane and world building it’s very average. It’s about magic people, but the moment Eira discovers a magic diary, magic becomes instructions, which is very weird. Also, it’s very repetitive. Kova’s writing style it’s more tell than show.
Don’t get me started on some of the dialogues! Very vague and Disneyish. Might give her a second try reading her in her original language -I read it in Spanish and the translation was god damn awful.
Overall very meh.

It kinda feels weird rating a personal experience, however, it feels unfinished.

The end is very abrupt. Didn’t like the fact we get to hear about her from other men, ironically.

Elphaba is an amazing character that, trough the eyes of other characters, gives you the opportunity to live the nuance of Oz.

I read it without knowing it was a Harry Potter fanfic, I knew it once I finished it. It’s an enjoyable book, however, the world building it’s non existing, so you’ll find yourself finding answers trough Harry Potter books. The characters are also very bad written. The FMC, Helena, has no goals, no desires, no conflicts, so it gets a little bit anecdotic at times. The conflict towards the MMC, Kaine, it’s very repetitive, so the tension gets lost pretty quickly.
You don’t really know much about Helena. Everytime she needs to make a decision or have a critical thinking about her environment, she stops, as if the author herself doesn’t know Helena. It feels as if she’s yet to meet her.
Regardless of many contradictions, SenLinYu is actually a very good writer. She has the ability to keep you reading, even if she has said the same thing for over 200 pages. I do believe that, when she stops borrowing characters, plots, and world building from other authors, she would be an amazing writer.
