I've been wanting to read this since I saw the movie so many years ago and I can say that I definitely enjoyed and it lived up to my standards.
It's a must read for someone who enjoys a book that's more dark and adventurous(while still YA) and there's s a theme of found family which I truly loved! The development of Ruby's character was great to see, especially in the use if her powers.
Although there was something that did put me off, such as the unreliable narration in her scenes with ahem, a person, but it also in a weird way made sense for their character. Otherwise, a great novel.

I don't think I trust Charles so much, he's...odd, which says a lot about this book🤔

Withcraft for Wayward Girls follows Neva(Fern),our protagonist during her pregnancy and her experiences in the home that she is sent to including the friends and enemies she makes along the way.
Here she uncovers a powerful spell: the ability to be free, to make her own choices and not conform to the world around her. The world that makes her and women like her pay and bleed for something that is so natural to them: being a mother.
I happened to read this books thanks to a recommendation on a bookstagrammer's page(@justelliesbooks) and ended up enjoying it much more than I thought I would. The only gripe I had with it which made it 4 stars was that I wished Hagar and Miriam's characters were more fledged it in the story considering the roles they play and that we got more background into the witchcraft they used. Despite that, this was a good novel and perfectly captured the struggles of women not only during that time but also today and how important it is that we have literature like this.
