Now I love ThriftBooks but I was wondering if anyone out there has used other websites like ThriftBooks.
I’ve heard of World of Books before and would be willing to try them out. Or should I just stick to ThriftBooks?

I read most of my books on Libby. I just learned that they added an AI feature and I’m definitely disappointed. The comments on their newest instagram post about it are very unsupportive so I’m hoping they’ll reconsider. I just wanted to see what some of y’all are thinking about this. If you’re planning to leave Libby what are you using instead? I’ve been wanting to read more physical books anyway so if I decide to delete Libby I’ll probably just be going into my library more often. The nice thing about reading on Libby is I’m able to finish a book and then immediately check out another even if it’s after hours.
Edit to add: Just want to be clear that I absolutely do not want to encourage anyone to stop supporting their libraries! I also don’t blame libraries or librarians for this and will direct my disapproval towards libby itself by giving them feedback through the survey on the app.

Hiaasen nails the satire as usual. However, in the year of our lord 2026 a lot of this hits way too close to home. Unfortunately I wouldn’t say this is “escapism” as it’s advertised by the NY Times. The second half gets a little bit more ridiculous and is more believably exaggerative. There are some very interesting choices made here in the portrayal of the first lady, and i’m not really sure what points were being made about her. I appreciate the dichotomy of Chief Crosby being a “good guy” that you like as a character but who also was not willing to stick his neck out with his absolute proof of Diego being innocent. The portrayal of the blind follower characters is hard hitting in a funny yet scary way. I would love to see this one made into a movie!
