  • What is a Famous/Culturally Relevant Book From Your Country? 📖🌏

My goal for 2026 is to read at least one book a month from Irish authors. I'm currently brainstorming that tbr, what culturally relevant or famous books would I like to read/reread etc

But it got me thinking, slightly inspired by challenges like "reading around the world" - what are some famous/cultural classics from other countries? And who better to ask than PB users!

    So,

    • What is a famous classic/older book from your country?
    • What is a culturally relevant book from your country?
    • Maybe a book/author that is well-known in your country, but not internationally known?
    • What's a book you had to study in school from your country?
    • What's a "modern" famous book?

It can either be by an author from there, set in the country, or both! Or even just one of your favs

And if you're from somewhere #Big like the United States I've a bigger challenge - answer these but for your state/region!

    • feel free to answer based on your identity/ethnicity too :)

I'll be adding an international read each month to my 2026 tbr, so choose well ;)

    Thoughts from 35% (page 106)

I am still debating if I should dnf this. I knew it was cozy and that's actually not the problem... I just can't stand the writing style.

  • Nonbinary November?

I just saw an IG post about Nonbinary November reads (they even made a bingo sheet for it. I'm a sucker for a bingo sheet). Anyone else doing this challenge? Any suggestions for good NB authors or main characters to look out for?

  • Tracking bedtime reading?

How do you prefer to track your bedtime reading? In StoryGraph I had been editing the date of my progress to the day prior, since I don’t like to use my phone right before bed and often read until I’m starting to fall asleep. PB only lets you count progress towards the day you make your update, so I’m wondering how people feel about that? Do you just update the next morning?

  • What is the story behind your username?

What is the story behind your username (if there is one) and is there a ‘proper’ pronunciation for it if it’s not pretty self-explanatory? I’m so curious sometimes when I see certain usernames and I’m like “am I saying it right? What does it mean??”

Mine is my first and middle name mushed together 😂 And while I spell my name with only one ‘s’, it’s pronounced the same as Alyssa (you’d not believe how many ppl struggle 😩)

  • gastronomy in literature

i’m in a bit of a cooking/baking slump atm, and i’m feeling inspired by videos on youtube where they cook food from films, shows & cartoons.

i think that the same premise but with books as the reference material would be super cool!!!

does anyone have any book recs that revolve around food, or have an excerpt of a specific dish that you’ve always wanted to try?

i’m planning to start by making the buttered roast potatoes from the secret garden, and maybe the petites madeleines from swann’s way😋
