I'm incredibly invested in the politics of this novel and where it will take Owen. His own desperation for his country to see him as worth something and resentment about his father's radicalism are fascinating.
It's clear Una is tired of the way she's been living "Because for weeks now, I have butchered only animals." But Owen's been tasked by Vivian help her, likely by persuading her to return to violence.
Also the critiques of liberalism and empire are !!!!!!! Extremely excited to see this book tackle these themes more. And also extremely excited for Una and Owen to break my heart.

I'm rereading the hunger games series for the first time since it came out and for some reason Mockingjay was the most forgettable to me. Now that I'm rereading it, I'm remembering more and more of the story and looking forward to it. Suzanne Collins really did improve the story with each and every book. Maybe I was too young to see that before, or maybe it's because of the state of the world today.

oh that was absolute poetry. i have so many feelings about this book! the first being that it’s so beautifully written; she writes like a fairy tale & the way she effortlessly switched between povs didn’t rip you out of the story like i feel it can often do. i was honestly torn between liking owen right up until the last third of the book.. she made him such an honest and flawed character/narrator that i couldn’t decide if i hated him or loved him, which just made me love him even more because how does one write a character so vulnerable like that?!? and the exact same goes for una, i loved the parallels and mirrored quotes she wrote between the two of them. the ending had me in my feels, and scared until the last page honestly, but i adored how the pieces came together. the easiest five star read.
