Hey all,
I don't know if it is just because I am moving into middle age that I am wanting to ask, but - why is the most comfortable way for you to personally read?
Tell me about your comfy reading habits. Is listening to an audiobook while on a hike the best for you? A certain configuration on the couch? A beloved recliner? Flopped in bed under covers but with your limbs at specific angles? Only while sitting like book lovin' ladies in 1900's paintings, with your back straight and arms somehow holding the book at eye level for a straight neck/spine even though the only arm workouts you are permitted is embroidery (this is not a dig on fiber arts, I love cross stitch myself)?
TELL ME. I am fascinated by this topic.
The obviously follow up is: for how long is this comfy reading comfy?

Hi, I would really like romance recs. I don't really like fantasy, so I'm looking for contemporary. I appreciate adult characters, but I'm open to any good story. I've read every Emily Henry and I think every Abby Jimenez book, and I just want more of them. I read the seven year slip and I liked it so I'm thinking of reading more by the author. Other books I liked: the hating game and the kiss quotient Books I didn't like very much: red white and royal blue (I can elaborate on why in the comments so no one accidentally reads spoilers) And just because of my taste I have a bad feeling about Ali Hazelwood. I've started reading her books before but dnf them not even a chapter in. Long time ago tho, I'm willing to give it a chance, so maybe comment what you thing her best book is.
Anyways, I would appreciate any recommendations you can give me š©·

i read this book after reading the love hypothesis, and at first i worried that nothing could compare. however, i loved this book! the main character is a great representation of the struggles people pleasers go through and i could really relate to her (even though i cringed sometimes because we were so similar). my only ācomplaintā would be that i wish the male main character, jack, had a little bit more of a character arch. overall, i really enjoyed this book and would recommend!

Okay, real talk: do you guys listen to music when reading or do you prefer not to? I lowkey sometimes canāt read some books without listening to a playlist. It sets the vibe, makes the world feel alive, and sometimes even makes me ugly cry. š§š¼āāļø
But I usually only listen to music for some genres, for example:
š¤ Horror = I search for āatmospheric horror playlistsā. š Fantasy = If itās famous enough, I search for book-specific playlists. The Poppy War playlist absolutely broke me on The Burning God last chapter šš»
I usually do instrumental only. Lyrics = instant brain chaos.
So⦠what about you? Instrumental, lyrics, white noise, or silence? Got a playlist you swear by? Drop your links! Iām looking at (stealing) them all. āØ

An introduction to the Romance genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.
