We're now roughly halfway through this year, so I was wondering what your favourite read has been so far this year? My favourites are Assassin's Apprentice by Robin Hobb, Red Rising by Pierce Brown, Pachinko by Min Jin Lee, and Mistborn by Brandon Sanderson. I would really recommend all of these.

Do you have a neat sorting system? Is there a shelf you're particularly proud of? Do you also forget they exist? 😅
I forget to use them, my shelves are also very messy and most are private because you can't really rearrange the books on the shelf. I do have one for 'books other pagebound users recommended me' that I like having.
*for clarity, i mean the shelves in your library, not lists

I’ve been thinking about the types of tv show/movies I like to watch vs what types of books I like to read, and I noticed that there are certain genres I prefer as shows/movies and others I prefer as books. I was curious about other people’s preferences, if you even have them.
For example, I lowkey have aphantasia lol I can barely visualize anything at all, so I really don’t like books with long descriptions and worldbuilding because I just can’t see any of it, so I prefer to consume fantasy and sci-fi stories as tv shows and movies where I can actually see the cool settings and creatures. But for the exact opposite reason, I’m a coward when it comes to horror movies, but I love to read horror books, because I can get the scary vibes without imagining the nightmare-inducing visuals haha.
Do any of you also prefer to watch certain genres as opposed to read them? Or do you watch and read the same genres? With or without regards to having aphantasia, but I’d be super interested to hear from those of you who do!

So this month, I’m going to try to get the Every Villain is a Hero in Their Own Eyes silver badge, which is 10 books. I’m reading a book that’s going towards that goal atm and have 3 more coming in on Libby that are in the quest as well and that I’m borrowing specifically for this quest ☺️ this is the first time I’ll be reading in a “quest-oriented” way (although I am quite interested in the books anyways)!
So I wanted to ask you guys, are there any specific badges you are hoping to get this month? 🙌 And are there books you’ve read because they are part of a quest, that you maybe wouldn’t have read otherwise? What was your experience with them? ☺️
Wishing everyone a good reading month of July ☀️🫶

i’m just curious how many of you have a preference on the type of paper that a physical book is printed on— do you enjoy the super clean, crispy white or prefer the creamy, near-yellow pages more?
i generally lean more towards the creamy/natural white paper more. it feels less.. sterile? & hurts my eyes less lol. and it is usually thicker with a tactile feel that i enjoy in my hands
{bonus points for comments/thoughts on sprayed edges or deckled edges for shits n gigs 😛}
