Kind of unrelated to the book but I had to google what a tide pen was. Is that an American thing or did I just live under a rock so far?

Any time Angela Davis is mentioned in a form of media I am automatically SAT. An absolute legend.

DNF @39% — I definitely wanted to finish this one — because I find the topic super interesting. I had two issues

    1. I recently read Smashing Statues: The Rise and Fall of America's Public Monuments by Erin L. Thompson which came out the year before this one and is incredibly similar in content

    2. This book felt like a list of quotes and citations of events rather than it’s own text synthesizing clearly / providing it’s own thesis at the forefront. I wanted more overt analysis rather than just a recollection of facts. This topic warrants a more passionate approach with an explicit call to action.

Wow!!! Incredible book. This made me so angry and engaged my passionate for fighting for reproductive justice. I loved the unapologetic trans and queer support, antiracism, and anticapitalism. A lot of the books I’ve read on abortion have been regionally focused—mostly the USA—so the slightly broader scope of this was fascinating. I highly recommend this one. So so so important to be aware of these things. Fascism is not fringe it is mainstream and we must address it.
