Idk if I’m not paying close enough attention or something but this is hard to follow so far… I’ve already had to restart once.

I… surprisingly don’t think I have much to say about this book. It was enthralling, but I think I was expecting a more explicitly dystopian feminist manifesto - not that this wasn’t, but it was much calmer that I expected.
The afterword by Sophie Mackintosh really has everything I think anyone could say about this book anyway. I hope this book is included in first year English Lit courses for years to come.

I enjoyed this a lot! The overall story was predictable in a comfortable way - the usual miscommunication tropes due to fear of being misunderstand that lead to said misunderstandings anyway. I do also appreciate that the ending didn’t require one or the other to make any sacrifices.
There were a few character things that were a bit irksome - I’m not sure how to put it into words, but for someone that Ramona considered to be the closest person to her, April rarely felt like the she empathetic to what Ramona was dealing with and more enjoyed the drama? Ramona did seem to over-identify with being her sister’s mother at points, which idk how I feel about. Lee/Leigh (sp? Audiobook) was a seemingly random character and didn’t seem to quite fit BUT I’m kinda hoping they’ll be in a future book in this series ‘cause they were fun.
