I might have to put this on pause :/ it feels very negative and I’m not fond of either of the POVs.

This reads a little textbook-y at moments, but the overarching theme of the importance of community and appreciating what the natural world gives us feels like a very important lesson I needed reminding of.

This was very sweet. It reminded me in tone of Days at the Morisaki Bookshop, but with much more of a fantasy element that was still very grounded. I would almost call this an abbreviated coming of age story? The main character is a teen boy who is a hikikomori (essentially someone w/ agoraphobia) who’s only immediately family member has just passed - and through the journeys the book cat takes him on, he gains confidence and a sense of self and interest in life again.
The metaphors were a little heavy-handed at times, but I think it still suited the purpose of the story. I think this’ll probably be one of my comfort reads!
