What is the one book you will always recommend to anyone, be they complete stranger or someone you know?
For me it is The Agony and the Ecstasy by Irving Stone. Historical fiction about Michelangelo’s life. It was absolutely riveting to me and made me obsessed with his sculpture work for some time specifically the lost sculptures. It is also the only novel that my mother and I have both read and something about that just sits right with me. Maybe because we have no commonality in our reading tastes otherwise. Weirdly I have never met anyone else who has read it, even though I know my mom read it for a book club while living in Sardinia and sent it to me on a whim when she was done with it.

I would love your recommendations ☺️
I have a friend who hast lost the fun in reading, we have often talked about this, since I read a lot and she’s always interested to hear what I’m reading and has often mentioned that maybe she has to “read something different” to get back to reading. She’s usually a non-fiction girl and has read all the classics (she’s definitely very well read) and she’s studied literature for a little while, she’s dropped out now, as it was more for fun (uni is free here) but she doesn’t have the time for the coursework at the moment.
So basically I want to gift her a book, something fun, well-written, maybe not too heavy? I’m really unsure in what direction to go 😄 what was THE book that got you into reading as an adult?
Thanks everyone!

Listen, I want to empathize with his sadness but his sadness is lowkey a skill issue.

greetings, everyone.
how did you find the pacing of the book? was it slow? was it fast? did certain passages bore you? most importantly, did you enjoy it?
