I would SO love to have a Christie badge on my profile. Hopefully one day this list (or others like it!) get made into a Quest with badges! I know other authors like Tolkein, Pratchett and Riordan have "universe" Quests, so I think we need to petition for one for Agatha!! What would be the design of the badge? Maybe: a typewriter on a desk piled high with books like in The New Yorker; her iconic glasses and pearls; or an outline of her lovely house, Greenway?
What a fun question!!! I like the idea of her typewriter with some of the iconic symbols surrounding it like Poirot’s mustache or a hand of cards or a magnifying glass etc. I think this would be my favorite quest if it was actually created!
I've been wanting to try reading Agatha Christie since my mom said she enjoyed her books and we did a play version of one of her stories, but I have no idea where to start. Any suggestions? 👀
Honestly I don’t think there’s a “bad” place to start. It’s just a matter of finding what kind of mystery sounds interesting to you.
I think it depends on the kind of mystery you like with where to start:
If you enjoy locked room- And Then There Were None
If you enjoy a big twisty end- Murder of Rodger Ackroyd
If you like closed cases with a gradual reveal- Five Little Pigs
If you like serial killer mysteries- The ABC Murders
If you want to read about a race to stop a murder before the “accidental brushes with death” worsen- Peril at End House
If you like love affairs ending in poison- Sad Cypress
If you love short stories that aren’t all about murder - The Labors of Hercules
If you want something that is atmospheric and on a beach vacay but also murdery - Evil Under the Sun
If you want Clue the game but in book form with twists and a carnival on an estate - Dead Man’s Folly
Hope this helps 🥰
