  • Christian book recs!

Heyyyy. šŸ¤—I couldn't find a lot of these posts so I wanted to post here and see if anybody had some Christian book recommendations? āœļøI'm a non denom Christian and prefer books with no spice. Also with M/F characters, low swear words ( preferably no f-words), and I can't really find lots of books like that to read. It's kind of disappointing. šŸ™ I do read books with no mention of God though. But it would be nice to have one where he is a central theme. Does anybody know of any? Thank you in advanceee😁😁

Edit: Some people have been saying my post has been offensive, so I'm sorry if it was. These are really just my preferences, I know that a lot of people are part of the Pride community here, I didn't mean any offense.

  • Seeking psychology book recommendations

Hi, i've had a teeny weeny interest in psychology for a looong time but never academically pursued it. I tried looking up psychology books but the ones i found were either old guys talking out of their ass or filled with jargon making it harder to understand. so are there any books that sort of stay in the middle, like they should be backed up by actual research while using easy-to-read language. or introductory texts i'd assume would make for a good start as well. throw some recommendations this way and thanks in advance!

also, would anyone like to buddy read these books? would probably be fun :)

  • Revisiting Old Friends

This year I’m turning 36 and am on the downhill to 40. Because of this I’m feeling pretty nostalgic so I’m aiming to go back through old books from my teens and twenties over the next few years. (This will also help me flesh out my PageBound from before I started tracking my reads.)

And man, it’s so great to go back and experience all these people and places again.

There’s so many things I’ve forgotten about and it’s just a really sweet time.

Is anyone else doing any rereads this year?

  • First-love genres

What genre(s) did you start your reading journey with and how has it evolved over time?

Mine has always been around Fiction - Mystery, Fantasy and Adventure. I added Contemporary Romance to the list after a few years, and have been exploring what else I can dive it

I remember being in the library during recess in primary school and I would always gravitate to these series: Hardy Boys, Nancy Drew, Secret Seven and the Baby-sitters Club!

And now its still a good whodunnit book and whatever modern romance books I can find that doesn't make me cringe!

"Again, it is to be feared that many today who profess to be Christ’s never learn wisdom, through failure to attend sufficiently to God’s written Word... How long is it since you read right through the Bible? Do you spend as much time with the Bible each day as you do even with the newspaper? What fools some of us are! – and we remain fools all our lives, simply because we will not take the trouble to do what has to be done to receive the wisdom which is God’s free gift."

Definitely felt a frying pan to the head of conviction with this one... šŸ˜… It's crazy how relevant and accurate this paragraph is to us in the 21st century even though Packer wrote this to a 20th century audience.

  • Do Bible books count as a whole book read for that year?

Hey, I was just hoping to ask my fellow bible-lovers; does reading and finishing bible books count as a whole book read for that month/year? I’ve finished about 9 books in the Old Testament and was wondering if you guys think it counts to add toward my total books read?

    Reading and Bad Eyesight

Contrary to the post title, I would like to know who among us Pagebound readers have perfect eyesight. Consider this a survey. Who among us have won the lottery and have not eroded their vision with our passion for words, so gripping that we read on our backs in bed or in the dimness as evening falls?

I’d also like to hear from friends who have usual sight- or spectacle-related stories. I, for example, have near-sightedness but it’s SPECIAL. You see, one side is 3.25 and the other is… 8.75. This means one side of my glasses is thicc af and the other is okay. Some people do apparently notice this and comment on or ask about it.

Edit: Current observations - Most readers do have poor eyesight and those who don't have other issues or sight-/eye-related problems that nevertheless are disruptive despite having clear vision. It's not looking good for us.
