Back story: This is an abandoned side quest idea. J&L are diligently working hard on PB and one of the things that they're working on is getting the book database in order, including merging duplicates. Unfortunately a lot of comics/graphic novels/mangas/serialized illustrated books have many, many duplicates. They've asked us to currently pause on making any quests that center these as it can make quests incredibly messy for PB, the quest owner, J&L, and PB users. I 100% respect that and as there's no definite date in which it'll not be a strain to make this quest -- I've decided to make it a list instead because I worked very, very hard on curating this and I would love to share it with all of you.

The pros of making this as a list instead of a quest is that I can add unpopular and less well known books into it! So YAY!!

I will take some recommendations, but tbh, this is my little baby so I'll be picky about it.

P.S. a ton of these come from Silver Sprocket Comics and you can find a lot of them through Hoopla or if you have the Queer Liberation Library card through Libby.

WOO HOO! Thanks for this list polter! I’m so ready to dive in!

5

Yay!! I’m so ready to devour this list 🙌

5

I'd recommend anything by Leo Fox for this list (all published under Silver Sprocket).

I'd also recommend a lesser known title: Hazards of Love by Stan Stanley (Oni Press)

4

I have Prokaryote Season on the list. I'm only (currently) doing 1 entry per an author but I love all of Leo Fox's stuff! Boy Island is a personal fave.

I'm fascinated by The Hazard of Love! I added it to this list and my own personal tbr. Thank you so much for the rec!

2

Oops, I missed that 😅 my bad. Boy Island was great, though my personal fave is Prokaryote Season!

Thanks for adding Hazards of Love! You can read it free online here: https://www.thehazardsoflove.com/archive/

3

Thank you!! Prokaryote Season is very, very good. It was my first Leo Fox comic and definitely impressed me.

2

Have yall read My Body Unspooling? That’s my personal fav!

3

Yes! It's quite meditative.

1

Second The Hazards of Love! Great pick for this

2

Love this list and I hope it can become a quest sometime soon!

4

I hold hope for one day that it will be! If not, that's okay đŸ„°

We will see it one day. I NEED it which means others do to!! Esp because trans rep in comics is a beautiful complex area of freedom, exploration, and access đŸłïžâ€âš§ïž ✹

2

Would you be interested in creating the trans* version of this list, or opposed to me stealing the idea and making one?

2

Funnily enough, the original idea was to be a trans sci-fi/fantasy graphic novel quest (can be verified by both Cookie and Eliott) that turned into a weird trans graphic novel quest idea that ultimately I felt landed best as a general weird queer graphic novel quest. Mostly because I felt I wouldn't have enough pb users interested and the books weren't popular or accessible enough. Which is why there are so many trans graphic novels in the list!

Anyway, long story short -- 100% go for your list idea! I will happily wait to experience it's glorious debut đŸ©·đŸ€đŸ©”

2

Hehe well PLeAse I beg of you to come visit & suggest often. I’ll create it shortly and update it along with my other new one(s) as soon as I get a chance to breathe.

Curious, what’s your definition of weird? I’d love to suggest more titles, regardless of if you add them to the actual list (some quest vibes if you will). Fantastic. This is MY genre heh✹ 😜

2

I don't necessarily think I have a set definition. It's mostly just what I would consider outside of the ordinary -- mind-boggling or confusing graphic novels is what I gravitate towards.

2

Cool cool thanks. That aligns with what I assumed from the collection and the description. I just didn’t think all of these were that weird, so I wanted to check in.

2

Have you thought about adding The Prince and The Dressmaker 👀

1

I wouldn't necessarily call that one weird. Unless I'm remembering incorrectly it's a historical romance. But I do love that one!

3

It’s funny weird at the end a little if you consider the absurdity of what happens for support and the possibility for such a thing to happen but that’s just a happy ending for you, and an ideal result — but no not weird enough I dare say, at least what this list is going for!
