Right now, in my last semester, I have a lot of projects and tests to do, but I really want to read books. How do people with tight schedules and little time manage to read without losing interest or losing track of the story? Or do I just have to accept my fate and read after everything is done? For me, that would take 1–2 months until then.

I always enjoy reading the author’s notes, especially at the end of historical romances and especially if they share the names of some of the nonfiction books they read while researching the novel. I am always excited to add those to my nonfiction TBR. Recently I learned about a book called Sister Sleuths about female detectives and investigators in the 19th century.
Do you all read the author’s notes?
What is the most interesting thing you have learned in or because of an author’s note?

Hello bibliophiles, I hope this post finds you well in the middle of a 5 star read! I have long spent searching the depths of Reddit, Pinterest and Goodreads, but wondered if I may have more luck if I post this into the pagebound universe! Brief potential message of spoilers ahead for Rebecca Ross’s novels as I describe what I loved in seeking recommendations!
One of my top favorite reads of all time includes the Divine Rivals duology and Wild Reverence, both by Rebecca Ross. This is where I dreamy sigh. I found Divine Rivals to be a true rare gem. It has fantasy, romance, a bit of mystery with the disappearance of a brother, and a loose touch of historical because theres an active war between the gods. It has a slow burn, rivals to lovers romance that actually builds and has yearning, love letters, and friendship-instead of just sexual tension and lust with the main characters purely ripping eachothers clothes off without actually falling for eachother (zero judgement here, just not my personal preference, as I feel the romantasy genre has been saturated by this lately).
I also found DR to have one of the most swoon worthy MMC who sacrificed everything for the FMC and literally followed her to the front lines of war. It had magical typewriters (!!!!) and the characters sent each-other letters back and forth, which added to the slow burn yearning. Overall, I found this duology to be enveloped in pure emotion, love, heartbreak and healing.
Wild Reverence ALSO snatched my breath and heart through the kindled romance from childhood through adulthood and beyond. I loved the scenes where the FMC swooped in and saved the MMC several times, proved her strength and resilience, and especially loved the almost reverse Rapunzelesque scaling of a tower and tumbling into his room.
If any of that speaks to you and sparks a scene from a book you love, please drop the title!! 🫶🏼💕✨

Today's question is simple and fun. It's another round of random sentences. Open the book nearest to you, flick to a random page. What is the first full sentence?

I have a six month old Kobo Clara that I have taken out of the house strictly only in cases that have a cover to protect the screen. The thing is, I hate folio cases with all my heart. The cover flipping and flopping everywhere (i need something to grab kobo better aka popsocket) and the urge to rip the cover off is huge.
I just got a e-book strap on Vinted and ofcrs it doesn't fit the case, only the naked Kobo. Does anyone keep their Kobo or other e-readers without any protection and how has it been?
I have a bad experience with Storytel e-reader years back, the screen broke while in my backpack, luckily I did get a replacement.

✨️ I want to make new friends here and connect with people who love the same books I do. ✨️
If our tastes overlap by more than 20%, give me a follow, and I’ll follow back! If you like my book taste, feel free to follow me too. And if we don’t match, comment anyway so you can find your mutuals and make some new friends.
By the way, I’ll be checking out all your profiles (even if we don't match) because I love trying new genres, and being friends with you here will definitely push me to read more outside my comfort zone.
My favourite genre: cozy fantasy, grimdark fantasy, dystopia, middle grade, graphic novels, crime, thriller and sometimes romantasy if the romance is not as important as the worldbuilding.

Hello, Guys. My city has been raining 24/7 for 2 months, but when it doesn't rain, it's as hot as an oven before it rains again. SEA struggle, I guess :/
I hope where you live isn't like this (づ ̄ ° ̄)づ. Because of the constant rain, I've rewatched Coraline 4th times. Really liked the isolated but comfy(?) feeling. I kinda want to read something that you guys think will suit the vibe. Any recs?
Thank you.

Can we PLEASE talk about how amazing it is when authors give us a playlist of the book??? I don't mean when they put songs into the story, but when they actually put the effort in and create a playlist made of songs that give the same vibes as the book As someone who loves music and gets really obsessed over the books she reads it's so beautiful to have a way of extending the feelings I had reading the book, if you understand what I mean
What are your thoughts on that?
(I apologise for my english, I'm actually Italian and not very good at writing in foreign languages)

I need some suggestions about fantasy books where there is real female rage. I want maybe a FMC so badass and so powerful. I saw there's a quest similar but it doesn't have fantasy books. Thank you to everyone who'll answer.

Since e-readers provide a bunch of ways to customize the reading experience, how do you all set up your e-readers? I have a very basic b&w kobo, and I like my font pretty small. But if i'm kind of tired and having a hard time focusing, I zoom that bad boy in to have pretty big font. I also turn on dark mode when I read at night... But I prefer a white background when I read during the day! I don't have any page turning buttons, so the bottom part of the kobo is set to turn to the next page, and the top for the previous page. I'm actually seriously considering investing in a remote and a stand thing so i can lay in bed and turn the pages without moving... is that super lazy? LOL

Do you ever drink coffee or caffeine at night in hopes of staying up to read but then you stay up way too late and regret it?
I have two kids one of which is only 2 months and the other is 2 and I need my sleep but I still do this sometimes 😭 I gotta stop.

What winter sport (or heck, any sport) would you like to see a romance novel written about? Obviously, tons of hockey romances exist, but I’d kill for a curling romance.

Hello all!🤗
I’m looking to get into Stephen King. So far i have only read Fairy Tale and didnt love it, but i think I’d prefer some of his other stuff.
Can anyone recommend me a place to start? Thank you in advance 🙈✨

How far ahead do you plan your next reads?
I didn’t use to do this and choose my next book only when I’m done with my current one. But bc of readalongs here and buddy reads and BOTMs in some Discord servers, I have March planned in advance even before it was February.
Before now it didn’t quite click that I already had my next five reads planned and… I’m not sure I like it.
What about you? And bonus question: How many books in advance do you think is reasonable to plan ahead?

I feel like every reader I talk to has a different definition of “cozy”! 😂 I think about the discussion of The Spellshop and how some people got stressed out because the stakes went up… or how since it included political and societal collapse it’s NOT cozy at all. I’ve even heard it to describe books like The Adventures of Amina al-Sirafi and others I would NOT define as cozy at all.
I wonder if some people mean “whimsical,” or others mean “low-stakes,” and still others mean “fun.”
At this point I’m not sure how I would define “cozy” 😂 Help me out here! What is “cozy?”
