I read this book for school and out of all the books I’ve read for school this book is on the very low end. I don’t hate all books that I have to read for school. Like I loved The Outsiders and Fahrenheit 451. I feel like this whole book was a poorly hidden allegory and not even a good one. The book is also racist on top of the message being stupid.

I really don’t know how to review this book, since I don’t read a lot of nonfiction books. For a nonfiction book it was really good. I learned a lot about ecosystems, animals, and extinction. The ending managed to be hopeful about climate change and mass extinction, yet serious about our effect on the world. I also loved the focus on individual scientist’s efforts.

Wow, this series definitely got better as it went on. This has to be up there based on how fast I read it (started at 2pm and finished at 9:30 pm); I just couldn’t put it down. The characters were definitely the best part of this book ( I’m a Cresta stan). Really like the more world building parts of this book. I’m really happy everyone got their happily ever after or are working towards it. I hear she’s writing a spin-off series which is exciting!

This was a re-read as I'm going to be reading the second book soon and it was just as a good as I remebered. I loved the originial magic system and how it drew from different cultures. I can feel a love triangle comming on, but Nick is my man. I think the book dealt with topics like grief and slavery really well and in way that added so much to the book. I'm super excited for the next book. Also Bree is such a badass and I'm looking foreword to watching her grow.

I think the premise of the book had so much potential it just wasn't executed well. The main character is very clearly written by a man. The rest of the characters feel like cardbord cut outs and I didn't like any of them. The ending is kinda annoying because you end up in the exact same place you started. I'm really disappointed because I loved the martian and had high expectations for this book.
