Okay, this really helped last time, I asked a question to you all as a little reward to come back to once I’m done with study and so I’m doing it again.
If you could add any service to the public library, what would it be and why?
It could be programs, different things to lend out, the sky is the limit. Budgets? We don’t know her. Funding is unlimited.

i had this eye-opening discussion with some friends some time ago and finishing a book today prompted me to think about it again.
i'm someone who is a very visual person in general and have a strong (perhaps even over-active) imagination. whenever i read a book, i tend to visualize the setting/action/characters/etc. which is why i tend to prefer books that have very imagery/atmosphere-forward prose.
however, apparently there are people out there who do NOT visualize what they read as they read it and instead just see words on the page and nothing else. there's no image in their head that the words create.
i would love to know which one of these everyone identifies with! if you are in the latter camp, please tell me more! i still have a hard time wrapping my head around what that kind of reading experience is like.
Also, if anyone has any scientific/neurological insights on this, i would love to hear them.

What snack/food would you eat to match the vibes of one of your current reads? For example: I'm currently reading Strange Houses 2. It would definitely be some stale sour dough bread you suddenly find hidden behind other food. Who knows how long it's been there but... if it doesn't look too suspicious... might as well crack out the butter and snack! (I feel like that's gross of me but I'm a hard bread addict- I need my fix!)

I have some things that I’m a huge sucker for in books and will pretty much pick up any book if they’re involved! Mine are generational family stories, bogs, strong botanical horror themes (like plants consuming or destroying a home) and woman killing men.
I think my weirdest and most specific one is bogs. I love ‘em and can’t get enough. Give me all your best bog books!
Do you have any super specific things that draw you in - like if you see that a book features it, it’s an auto read?

I just learned that today is annually Drop Everything and Read Day! April 12 is Beverly Cleary's birthday and DEAR Day is on that date because the concept comes from the Ramona books.
I didn't realize it was annual on a specific date, but I have fond memories of us doing this in third grade. We were allowed to bring pillows in and be cozy and read all day with no other expectations.
Did you guys have Drop Everything and Read Day when you were in school?

I saw this article about the Choctaw nation buying a large warehouse that ICE was thinking about buying, and I thought other people on here would also like to read about it and read the article.
https://www.projectsaltbox.com/p/choctaw-nation-buys-former-big-lots "Choctaw Nation Buys Former Big Lots Warehouse, Closing Off Oklahoma ICE Detention Site" The article states that "The Choctaw Nation of Oklahoma announced Wednesday it has purchased the former Big Lots distribution center in Durant — a 1.24-million-square-foot warehouse that had been under informal consideration by Immigration and Customs Enforcement as a potential detention site."
Here's another article on it https://www.kosu.org/choctaw-nation-purchase-durant-facility "The Choctaw Nation Council passed a bill on March 14, approving the purchase of the facility. Last week, Chief Gary Batton confirmed the acquisition in a statement, calling it an opportunity to strengthen the tribe’s long-term business strategy. When in business, the 1.2 million-square-foot Big Lots distribution facility employed more than 300 workers. It closed in January 2025 due to the company’s overall financial distress. “We are evaluating how to use this adjoining property as part of our efforts to support operational growth and exploring a variety of potential uses that align with our strategic vision,” Batton said in a statement. “This is an opportunity to enhance our presence and continue driving economic prosperity for our tribal members and the surrounding community.” The potential for the former Big Lots distribution center to open an ICE detention facility came under fire in January, when both the Choctaw Nation and Durant City Council took precautionary measures to ensure the facility aligned with their communities' best interests."
Here's this amazing list made here on Pagebound https://pagebound.co/lists/4536d5ba-4413-4d76-920e-060bdf66a6aa That's all about books about abolishing ICE and about the border for people who want to read more and need recommendations on books about this topic!
