Why are there a lot of fantasy books with titles that sound like Sarah J Maas' books?? 😭 They all sound like spin offs from ACOTAR. Daughter of smoke and bone, The girl of fire and thorns, Children of blood and bone, The Serpent and the wings of night, From blood and ash, The Kingdom of flesh and fire, King of battle and blood, The wrath and the dawn, A fate of wrath and flame, Heart of blood and ashes, A court of honey and ash, The courts of fate and fear etc etc
I have read none of these books, nor have I read SJM's books and THIS IS SO CONFUSING 😭

It occurred to me, everyone has a reason for reading their favourite genre. So what's your why?
For me, romance has such an important place in my life. It's an escape, it's about happiness and it allowed me to gain a lot of comfort with the idea of romance, closeness and intimacy (both emotionally or otherwise). When I started out, I was gaining a sense of myself as an adult, and exploring romance really helped me come into my own as an independent adult by learning through these stories. I kind of just picked it up on my own, so it was one of the first things I learnt I loved on my own without my friends or my family, even though I eventually found friends through books. It also allowed me to determine what type of things I like and don't like, what traits I find attractive in others and in myself.
It also allowed me to find a community that allows me to feel like myself.
So that's my why for my genre. What's yours?

as the title says 🥲
id absolutely LOVE to get into reading danmeis specifically bcs i just love the amount of pain and yearning ive heard there can be and the way its done. it feels like all the plots and scenes that i imagine and end up searching some online to see if there's anything, are actually done in there.
i only ever tried to read two and it was "heaven official's blessing" and "living to suffer". i gave up on tgcf quite soon, i dont know i just couldnt get into it for some reason and living to suffer, i will continue and finish (reading slump got me lately) tho i know theres a prequel? sequel? and id like to read it too.
historical stories were never really my cup of tea even in series and manhwas, but id really like to give it a try properly in books and find the certain subgenre or at least author i would enjoy.
