This is my 3rd try at reading this book. I am actually enjoying it for once - not sure if format or mood really impacted my readings before (previously tried as a ebook and audiobook) - but I’m feeling good this time.

What are your favorites books with a "friends to lovers" vibe? I'm tired of seeing the same "enemies to lovers" popular books that are not even proper enemies to lovers, barely rivals/dude I fancy but pretend I don't to lovers.

Parents.
Because what do you mean their ALL GONE OR ABUSIVE?!? I've read sooooo much fantasy books but 99.9% of the time the PARENTS ARE GONE OR ABUSIVE AND CAUSE SO MUCH TRAUMA ITS INSANEE💔
I get that authour's dont want to write all that family drama but sometimes its NECESSARY!! WE CAN ONLY HAVE SO MUCH DEAD PEOPLE IN OUR BOOKS!
I really love a good protective mother getting revenge for their child or a father getting mad when people hit on their child💗💗💗but than THERE IS FANTASY
-Dead mother who ran away from abusive/absent father. CHECK✅ -Abusive PARENTS who like this other child better.. CHECKK✅ -Absolutely NO MENTIONING of family CHECCK CHECK CHECK✅✅✅
Like if we can have it in romance for example in Binding 13 WE HAVE A BALANCE OF TRAUMA AND LOVING PROTECTIVE FAMILY!! ITS NOT THAT HARD TO WRITE A WORRIED MOTHER. YOU CAN STILL HAVE TRAUMA WITH BOTH ACTIVELY LOVING PARENTS!!!!😔😔
Also some of these family backstories are SO TRAUMATIC IS SCARY! WHAT DO YOU MEAN HE CHEATED ON YOUR MOTHER WITH SOME RANDOM GIRL AND SO DID HIS/HER PARENTS?!?🤨 What do you mean he FUCKING GROOMED HER THATS NO FAMILY TRAUMA THATS JAIL TIME! Or it's something like "they died when I was small and I never saw them again/dont remember them."😭😭💔
Dont get me wrong I love it when their's trauma and a sad backstory but EVERY SINGLE FRICKIN TIME?!? Does anyone have any Fantasy rec's with at least 2 LOVING AND CARING PARENT'S?!?😔

Im having a really hard time getting into the book. I feel like the similarity of the names really confused me at the begging. Also, the writing style is a bit not in my type - i feel like there just isn't a lot of dialogues and the descriptions feel a bit... of? Like i find myself reading and not knowing what happened in the last 2 pages🙈🙈. I feel like the action (if there is any? Its a bit boring) is fast in terms of sentences, but not the whole book? Like a scene is written pretty chaotic, but overall there aren't many important things happening? Not sure if it makes any sense.

its so disguisting i have to stop for a bit. i always felt like i was a pretty resistant person to such topics, but this book proved me wrong. ive never ever felt so sick reading anything also, when i explained this book to my friend her first reaction was: "how could someone write that?" yea, i have no idea

Ngl this book made me feel emotions that no other book made me feel. Lets start of with the fact that i never ever felt so disturbed and disguised reading a book. As someone who likes reading heavy and dark books, this one is a bit different. I feel like it may be like this because cannibalism here is pictured in an interesting way - it has been normalized in the whole world. I love (and im also a bit scared) the fact that what is happening here could easily happen in reality (and maybe it is already?), which makes this book hit even harder. Right now we are discussing ,,crime and punishment" durning our language lessons and i can see some connection between it and this book. How could a human being decide who should be killed? Its not up to us - there arent any normal and special people.

The jade thing kinda reminds me of sandersons mistborn where they burned specific metals to gain the powers. Both here and there people see better, are stonger and many more things

One of the students asked how language or words could be forced out of use, and it reminds me of how certain popular words are currently banned in North Korea. There was a cell phone smuggled out of the north recently, and the text function automatically changed certain words before sending a text, and would send an alert to authorities if the user typed the word a certain number of times. Anyway, just a fun (?) fact lol

It's the fall season and everyone on internet are posting about their thick and chunky tbr on almost every social media. Is it just me or all seems a little toooooo much to buy all your seasonal books now? I mean there are a lot of books that haven't even published yet! And if you add this one too people have over 20 books...?
