This book is disgusting, outrageous and hard to process.. but it also depicts a society / reality that doesnāt differ much from ours irl. The only thing the author really did: replacing the farm animals with humans. All the heinous descriptions of the meat production are already real and a lot of it is standard procedure. Sentient living beings treated like garbage, a product, a thing we can āuseā. For me it makes no difference what species those poor souls are - itās fucked up. It really messed with me and in a weird way made me happy that I am a vegan 𤣠I genuinely never knew where the book was going and so every reveal really caught me off guard. The ending, maaaaan. The main character is just the worst, really all the people in this book are unbearable. Iām glad itās over.

From ancient monsters to doomed voyages and the crushing silence of the deep, these are stories soaked in saltwater, isolation, and fear. Some horrors surface. Others pull you under.
