I have tried to give this series multiple chances, personally for me the writing is kind of cringey, I cannot fully immerse myself into the story because of the dialogue and the writing. I don't know if I'm the only one who feels this way but it also feels very on your face and heavy handed with everything which I can understand of course, but still takes out of the experience for me :( I frankly cannot bring myself to care for what is happening in the book at all and I just am reading it because it's easy to read kind of? I have so much more to say about Bree and how her petulant behavior just makes her seem downright stupid and makes me see every decision she makes or action she takes as a big mistake done out of spite. IT IS SO ANNOYING.

"That care is laced with horrifying disregard."
I feel like everything I need to know about the Order has just been told to me in their willingness to falsely imprison an innocent man for political convenience, and power consolidation away from the leader they claim to support (Arthur) to themselves (the Regents). It's such an amazing set up for them to be putting Bree in this situation, a black woman whose existence is completely incompatible with seeing innocent people in chains. She is going to either reform this Order or destroy it. She can't live with it as it is.
This is white supremacy behavior and Bree is here to stop it. I love that for her, for me, and for all of us.
