omg this was so much better than what i’d anticipated!! definitely a very very strong sequel. some problems here and there (mainly pacing and the writing style). i’m in love with this world and the characters, especially nura, and my jaw just kept dropping almost every chapter during the last 200 pages

An introduction to the Fantasy genre, these books are part of the cultural zeitgeist or the 'canon' that many would recognize. Look for more niche titles in later Starter Pack volumes.

i really enjoyed the book, but i wanted.. more? i loved the concept of mutated deer and animals in general, and i wished to see more of that and the worldbuilding in general. but this is ya and ya books rarely dive deeper into these aspects. speaking of ya, sometimes it felt too ya-y which is a turn-off for me personally. overall, i liked reid’s writing. also bonus points for the pacing; kept me hooked throughout almost the whole book. last 70ish pages, the pacing turned weird and slow and i didn’t like it
wished mel and inesa had more chemistry because the book basically relied on their relationship, but sometimes it felt quite empty? one ick i also had was the use of real life slang 😭 ik the setting is supposed to be modern but one does not simply use ”lmao” and ”chat” in their book.
still, very solid for a book read for entertainment
