i love all the ways to sort books in my library on here. it’s a great way to specify what i’m going to read next. I was just wondering if there’s a way to sort the sections by author? I like doing it that way so series can be together. Anyone else?

Wow, okay, how do I review this book? My thoughts are all over the place; there are so many things I want to say and points I want to hit, and I don’t think I’m good enough at writing reviews to do it justice. Aaaand that’s going to be my transition, because one of the big themes in this “silly book about bread” is about how people undervalue their own skills and abilities. Other strong themes you’ll find in this book include: thoughts on what is and isn’t considered a “skill”, the importance and power of creativity, what it means to be a hero, PTSD, realities of war at the lowest levels, and overall the levels of power, and how in many different ways people in charge can fail the people they’re supposed to protect. Not only does T. Kingfisher hit all of these points (and probably more, these are just the ones I remembered to note down), she does so in writing that skews quite to the young end of YA (but still at a level I think would be entertaining to most adults), in a way that is clear and understandable without dumbing it down or hitting you over the head with it, and with multiple both heartwarming and heartbreaking moments somehow slotted perfectly into general silliness and a laugh-out-loud level of humor. Whether it’s your personal taste or not, I think you’ll find it very hard to argue that the quality isn’t there, cause damn. This is some good writing.
This is my first T. Kingfisher book, and I am very excited to read more of her books in 2026. I don’t know if Defensive Baking is so good I need a physical copy for my shelf for rereading purposes, but it’s definitely up there, and I will be considering it.

The conversation between Mona and Uncle Albert, about what it means to be a hero, is both heartwarming and heartbreaking, while still feeling realistic and appropriate in a book which general approach to most everything is being quite silly. Superb writing. Really well done 👌

Has anybody else met their reading goal and just hit a massive slump after? Like alright I did it, now I don't want to see another book until January.

So I have an old (couple years) kindle and I don’t tend to get ebooks with Libby because I don’t like reading on my phone and I always struggle to transfer the ebook from my phone kindle library to actually on my kindle. I’ve seen posts about Kobos (haven’t looked into them yet I wanted to ask around here first) but for my Kobo readers are they Libby compatible? And if so how easy is it to get the books onto the Kobo?

There are books that I read that have genuinely pissed me off because one of the characters would do or say something that triggered me, which isn't the issue. The issue for me is when the book makes it seam like that character was in the right and they deserves an apology from the other character with either little to no accountability of their own actions/words. So, I'll go read reviews, hoping that others agree to turn around and see that I'm the minority of that opinion. Makes me wonder if my standards are too high or too much.
Thankfully, I do read books that have the conflict revolution that I wish happens in more contemporary books. So, I'm not feeling so alone but it still makes me wonder if I'm looking for too much in fictional books.
