Post from the The Yellow House forum
"architecture and belonging and space"
Made me think of the importance of past homes, or simply of places that once held meaning. If I close my eyes, I can still remember walking up the stairs of my grandmother and grandfather's old family home, which had been in our family for generations. They ended up selling it, as neither my father nor my uncle were keen on living in a village that has largely been forgotten with time.
Even though the house now has new owners, it is still my house (our house) in my heart, and sometimes, when I dream of it, I am transported back to another time.
And this goes for buildings in general really: the many apartments I lived in as a child before my parents could finally afford a house, and all the schools where I have spent so much of my life. Anyway, I'm derailing, that quote just made me think a lot.
