the twist is so glaringly obvious from the very first chapters that i can’t fathom what any of the worshiping reviews are talking about

As a man (jumpscare) nothing infuriates me more than men who have power trips against women. I’m glad Abitha is eating these men up. Period queen 💅🏻

  • Who is the author you have read every book and you wish there was more?

Is there an author you have read everything by/trying too, even stuff thats not super popular by them.

    1. James Herriot read everybook not just the most popualar one "all creatures great and small".

    2. Seishi Yokomizo every book that gets translated into English i ship to Australia as soon as it comes out in the UK, i refuse to wait 4 months for it to get here.

3)Shusaku Endo - slowly going through his back catalogue, Wrote very popualar books in the past particualarly Silence, so i am trying to get through his back catalogue, while i have access to my university library who have all his out of print books.

How similar are her other books to this?

I loved this book when I read it a few years ago but based purely on my own assumptions by looking at the blurbs of her other books, it seems like it's probably quite different to her others. Should I give anything else by her a chance?

    Audiobook

For those who don't know, McCurdy narrates the audiobook version of this book. It's devastating. I highly recommend.

  • Daunting Books and Series

What are some books and/or book series you are interested but can't get yourself to read?

I've been meaning to read Les Misérables for years now, but it's so long. I did start, and loved what I read, but dropped it, and never had the courage to pick it up again. 🥲 Babel and Poppy War are very daunting for me. I keep seeing people talking about PW here, and so I get reminded that I'm curious about it. I also want to read Malazan, but I'm convincing myself that I'll wait a few years until starting it, but I definitely will! 🤣

  • If you could read a book for the first time again ...

... which would it be? I love rereading books! I try not to do it too often, because I have so many amazing books waiting for me, but some books really profit from being read several times, or I'm overwhelmed or in a reading slump and rereading is what helps me then. But there are some books I really wish I could read for the first time again, because they had such a unique influence on me. Here are my top three: Babel - R. F. Kuang She Who Became the Sun - Shelley Parker-Chan Island Beneath the Sea - Isabel Allende

    What are yours?
