this has been in my TBR for so long, at this point it was just embarrassing I hadn't read it yet. I really like this story - learned something about Greek mythology and I could root for some kickass female characters being angry at the patriarchy, what's not to love?

I get this was trying to be a comment on patriarchy and some such thing, but it just managed to annoy me. I googled what exactly happened with Chopin and Sand and I cared for them individually and as a couple more from reading the Wikipedia article. If you want to tell La Sand's history, why do it via deceased 15th century ghost girl that died during childbirth. What was the point if she didn't even manage to move on in the end?

This was slow progress but worth it in the end! Somehow felt like a little ode against AI, which is totally understandable, especially in regards to how Sanderson seems to value artists across all his works. Liked Hoid's weird ass cameo a lot!

So what I'm getting is that the Queen is Fae, Saeris is probably also some kind of Half-Fae or Witch or whatever. Saeris' brother has two brain cells and they're busy drinking or something.

I enjoyed this a lot! Misery was funny, witty and also kind of just relatable enough for a vampire. I could've done without the miscommunication and the cruel way Lowe handled the whole mate situation and ALSO how did she not figure it out EARLIER ugh
