So far the vibe reminds me of a Korean movie called "The Silenced" with the boarding school for only females and the mystery behind missing girls. Recommend the movie if you enjoy this book too!

Started off strong, but then the middle got repetitive. It was the Mom and Eden being hungry and desperate to catch a stray. Margot got the short end of the stick, like how can she be stuck with a narcissistic, psychopath mother who regrets giving birth to her 🙃 I really was rooting for Margot to escape and be with Abbie or either for the cops to found out about the mother.
Post from the The Lamb forum
"I've never understood why mamas are expected to be perfect. Men are forever thought of as boys. But girls? Once we're mamas or once we're ripe, we can never be girls again. Not in their eyes. But we are always girls and daughters, underneath. Always."
The standards between men and women would always be funny to me. Women always get backlash/hate for little things and for men, it would be brushed off.

It was funny to see the relationship between Mosscap and Dex develop. Their journey through the different regions - seeing Mosscap experience things for the first time and Dex being the supportive guide he is. I liked how the ending wasn’t heavy at all, I can’t get enough of this duo!

“It always a strange thing, coming home. Coming home meant that you had, at one point, left it and, in doing so, irreversibly changed. How odd, then, to be able to return to a place that would always be anchored in your notion of the past. How could this place still be there, if the you that once lived there no longer existed?”
My favorite quote from this book - I feel like “home” is the only place where it would meet multiple versions of ourselves and would welcome us with open arms.

“You keep asking why your work is not enough, and I don’t know how to answer that, because it is enough to exist in the world and marvel at it. You don’t need to justify that, or earn it. You are allowed to just live. That is all most animals do. “
I might need Splendid Speckled Mosscap as my bestie/therapist.

Wow didn't expect so much philosophical elements from such a short book! I loved the lore of the robots and how they get their names - Splendid Speckled Mosscap (it's a mouthful!). Cozy and funny book, I would recommend for the fall season and like the author says - this book is perfect for anyone who could use a break.
