I do think this book was longer than it needed to be, but honestly, it was still an incredible read.
That ending was something else, I’m picking up the next book ASAP.
One of my favorite parts of this book was Andarna. Turning her into a teenager made everything so much more entertaining. The way she constantly opposes Tairn and never listens to Violet was genuinely funny, and it added a lot of personality to the story.
I already loved the relationship between Violet and Tairn in the first book, but I think I loved it even more here. Their dynamic is just so fun to read.
Honestly, I can’t even think of anything else to say, I just really loved almost every part of this book.
5 stars.

This was my first time reading a paranormal romance that leans more rom-com than dark romance, so I didn’t really know what to expect, but I ended up enjoying it.
I will say, though, that the first couple of chapters felt longer than necessary. The author spends a lot of time describing how places and people look, but not enough time on actual conversations between the characters. That made the beginning a bit slow, and I can see how it might put some readers off. But once Cassie moves in with Frederick, the story really picks up and becomes a lot more interesting.
One thing I really liked about this was the vampire lore. Even though the book doesn’t explain how people become vampires, I liked the way they were portrayed here. Giving each vampire a unique ability was a nice touch.
There’s also a concept in the book that I thought was especially interesting:
“We're immortal, but because our hearts don't beat, our blood doesn't flow the way yours does. Which, in turn, means it takes an irritatingly long time for our wounds to heal.”
That idea just makes so much sense. Vampires are usually portrayed as stronger and faster than humans, but they’re still technically dead, so the whole “instant healing” thing in other books and shows has never fully made sense to me. Slowing down their healing here and actually giving a logical reason for it made me like the world-building a lot more.
Overall, if you’re looking for a vampire romance with a more whimsical, rom-com vibe instead of the usual dark and brooding tone, this is definitely worth checking out.
3.75 stars.
