"Hope is not a metaphor; it's a lived practice. It isn't a thing I possess. Rather, I have to remake it daily. I don't have hope, I do hope."
This is a book I'm going to revisit often. Each chapter centers on a theme that it defines and expands on, including quotes and stories from people involved in various movements. If a particular theme didn't resonate with me or apply to me, I skimmed the parts that expounded on it and read the real-life stories that were included.
I can't go to protests or marches and at times, that's made me feel like a bad activist. Now I realize how much I can do instead, and I feel hopeful for the future.

Let This Radicalize You: Organizing and the Revolution of Reciprocal Care (Abolitionist Papers)

"We must ask ourselves, how much discomfort is the whole world worth?"
This was such an important chapter for me. I find it really hard to engage with people who hold even a single important belief in opposition to me, and they're right, I struggle to form connections because of that. I would hate to negatively impact a movement I'm involved in because of it.
