I really liked Colie, she was a bit different from the other Dessen's characters, but I think the book ended a bit "abruptly". There was more to be explored. I didn't like that she defined fat = ugly and deserves to be alone (even if I get where she's coming from), and I think that even at the end of the book, she didn't really understand it.
I thought that the dancing memory was so well written. It made me emotional.
I wasn't particularly invested in Morgan's subplot, and I didn't like Isabel.
I was really afraid that the message was going to be "a good makeup will give you confidence, you were never ugly, you just had bad hair" but I'm GLAD I was wrong, Colie stayed true to herself. The story was about her, and I really liked that romance didn't seem to be her priority. I also wish we had more moments with her mother, or both of them and Mira. She was a sweetheart š„¹ That town doesn't deserve her.

Keeping the Moon

Isabel hated me on sight, and not because I was fat. Just because she could.
I really didn't like Isabel. Even after knowing her "backstory" I still felt like she was unnecessarily mean to Colie and never really redeemed herself. Why would you tell someone that you don't know, basically a kid, that their piercing is "repulsive"? She's supposed to be a grown up and she acts like a bully? That was so mean.

The contrast between good and evil has grown tedious. Where are the grays? In this telling, goodness belongs only to the innocent, who either become jaded or reach a bitter end. The protagonist wallows in self-pity and loneliness as the rare humanoid who strives for goodness in a world that rewards cruelty.
Long after becoming empowered by witchcraft in her exile, she still strikes me as immature and fragile. She has earned neither wisdom nor strength.

I didn't expect Seiji to order the most unserious sundae but he totally deserves it š§š š¼ššŖ I love that they're finally getting to know each other better, and how Nicholas is so proud to show him where he comes from š«
Also, when he gave him his jacket? Cutest thing ever š„¹

I didn't think I needed to see Seiji and Nicholas in casual clothes BUT THEY LOOK REALLY GOOD, I love how their opposite personalities reflect in their outfits š¤āØļø Might be my favorite panel from this volume.

"You talk a lot."
"Oh, yeah, sorry. I get carried away. You, uh, probably prefer to train in silence."
"No, I... I just don't have that much to say."
THE BLUSHING. I SEE YOU, SEIJI š¤ I just love how Nicholas is a loud and messy chatterbox and Seiji just accepts it āØļø I think he's the kind of chaos he needs in his life. Except Jesse, he probably never had friends š„ŗā¤ļøāš©¹
