Lucy and I were going through the Roadmap today (for those that don't know, we have a public roadmap to show what we're working on - you can find it in the "more" menu on the app in the top left of the navbar, or linked in the footer on web) and realized we've had a few requests for quarter star ratings. We said we'd let the community weigh in and make a decision, but the feedback thus far has been split. So, we're opening up the convo now!
Should Pagebound have .25 star ratings?
Pros: You can get granular with your ratings, you decide if you want to use the quarter star system or not (if you don't like them, you can continue to use half stars), many folks have personal rating systems that involve quarter stars
Cons: Since we have sub-ratings on PB, there is additional cognitive load to rating things like plot and quality with quarter stars (we think only having quarter stars for overall rating would be confusing and look like a bug). It could potentially discourage people from adding sub ratings if they feel paralyzed by the granularity
Very curious to hear what you all think!

I'm getting close to DNFing this book. The only reason I haven't already is because it's marketed as a slow burn so I'm trying to be patient. Please, someone tell me if I should bother to keep reading. Initially, I was curious about Aoifie, but the more I read, the more I find her boring. Declan's characterization is also not keeping me interested. Help

I'm sorry to say that this book was boring from the start. Briony is not a well-written character, notably because she is not written to be anything beyond a romantic interest for the MMC. I only read The Auction up to Hermione first being brought to Malfoy Manor - I didn't like the writing, pacing, and characterization. Those all were problems in this book too. Soto rushes all the important aspects and painfully drags out scenes/narration that don't even help endear me to the characters. I thought I could get through it by skimming and reading just that parts that were enjoyable, but no enjoyment was to be found. The writing is a lot of telling, not showing. During no part did the writing engross me, pull me in, transport me. Finally, the plot has potential, as dark and scary as it is, but this book isn't made to serve the plot, it's written to serve the romantic storyline, which wasn't done well enough to carry the book. Bummer.

Uhhhhhhh... did I read the same book that everyone is giving five stars? Cause I feel like I'm not...
anyway, some things I did find interesting were the religious system, and the red haired character (no I can't remember his name), and that's about it. Things that pissed me off so much were; the inconsistencies of how Amaranthas hair is described (is it red, or is it black?), the fact that tamlin literally sexually assaults Feyre, and the way Sarah j Maas describes so called 'malnourished women'. She describes them as "looking like a stick; all knobbly elbows and knees, ribs you could count and sallow faces" before then saying in the next paragraph "but her breasts were stunning. as creamy as two milk jugs, they captivated you, and it was nearly impossible to look away.". Like... Uhmmmm that's not how that works girl. Also, the riddle was literally so easy to figure out, but that could just be me, idk. Will I read the rest of the series? Yes, but only cause a close friend says it gets better. Wish me luck.
