my physical TBR is way too long, i have no idea where to start. i have the problem of buying books but never reading them, which i am hoping to change. right now i’m 70% of the way through Alchemised, with plans to finish this weekend!

starting the audio book at work… i’m scared 🫣

I would like to suggest In The Court of the Nameless Queen by Natalie Ironside for this quest! Our protagonist is So Very evil. She leads an evil horde. She is devoted to her evil spider goddess. She is so excited to turn good, god-fearing women to be apostates. But also, the church really sucks, right? And isn't the evil horde doing a way better job of taking care of it's people and generally providing day-to-day freedoms? This book is a series of four short stories, three about Freydis Thorkilsdottir and her rise to become Freydis Gothi, Mother of Abominations, and one about Steff Pelczynski and her journey to become diabolist to the court of the Marchioness. Freydis is the swashbuckling, sarcastic, strong, cool, kinky adventurer lady that you have been looking to read about, and all her friends are pretty awesome, too. If you go to check this book out and say "hey corvid, this is erotica, why are you suggesting this?" my answer to that is: there are other books on this list that have R-rated content, it contains a significant chunk of the worldbuilding for follow-up installments in the world, and I wanted to at least try to suggest transgender sapphic content for this list and this is in my opinion THE most well-written one I've got. It also happens to have people fuck nasty styles in it. If this is too far out of the range of this list, then that is totally okay! I just wanted to throw in my hat for one of my fav trans authors who self-publishes in a world where trans people are getting stomped on.
