“I suspect that, if I could have convinced myself that my interest was of a purely intellectual nature, I could have managed it. But it was not. This was Bambleby, after all—my only friend. (God.)”

I love how the author really gets Emily’s emotions through in her writing. This is Emily’s “journal,” and although in some places it’s almost dry (in purpose), quotes like this bring such a fun voice to the character. 🤣

You know it’s a romance book when she’s so tiny and he’s so big.

Is anyone else getting Mistborn vibes from this?? Maybe because the audio book narrators are the same as Stormlight which I’m also immersive reading currently 😂 but also MMC being named Kell.. and Kelsier. I find myself continually getting the same vibes I felt when reading Mistborn and I’m loving it 😍

A point that women today continue to try to make:

“Does one deserve to have evil done to her by consequence of putting herself where evil can reach her?”

I’ve gotta say, I think I side with Jasnah in this particular philosophy lesson.

I haven't been updating about this one because I tend to be listening to it when I am out and about, but holy hell is it good. We seamlessly slip between perspectives of this childhood friend group turned adults, and if you've read it, I think you know which of them I am incredibly angered by. I'm so glad there are four books out (a trilogy and a prequel, I'm pretty aure) because I have a feeling I am going to need to know what happens next ASAP after finishing this first book.
